One week, two albums from England that have removed any interest in listening anything else. First on Tuesday P.J. Harvey’s latest “Let England Shake” driven by her confident voice surrounded by guitar driven compositions which veer from folksy to rock ornamentation. Lines are already lodged in my memory though I haven’t started digesting what she’s writing about.
I knew Radiohead was supposed to release “King of Limbs” this weekend but they jumped the gun and let it into the wild Friday. It’s entirely synthetic and propulsive though always guided by Thom Yorke’s distinctive voice. Here’s a taste. I’ve been listening to both in the car and haven’t started parsing the lyric yet but I desperately want to get them on a real sound system to see how they feel.
